Room to explore.
Foundations to flourish.
A humanistic approach to education, where subjects connect, curiosity has room to grow, and learning finds meaning in everyday life.

Jasmine Eatman-Smith is the founder of Cottonwood Preparatory Academy and a licensed clinical mental health counselor, licensed clinical addictions specialist, and National Certified Counselor. Before becoming a psychotherapist in 2010, she worked as a social worker for nearly seven years. Her experience working with children and adolescents in their homes and within school systems helped shape the humanistic, well-rounded approach at the heart of Cottonwood’s developing curriculum.
Creating a curriculum within her own home felt like a natural extension of that work: an opportunity to nurture the whole learner through encouragement, foundational knowledge, and meaningful exploration. Subjects are given room to overlap and breathe, allowing students to pursue areas of interest with vigor while discovering how learning connects to daily life.
Her educational philosophy brings academic depth together with curiosity, creativity, and personal growth. The goal is to build knowledge, confidence, and tenacity—helping learners carry their understanding into the environments and endeavors they choose to pursue.
Knowledge for life.
Confidence for what comes next.
